Terms of Service

Last updated: October 7, 2026

These terms cover the Mountlet website, desktop application, licensing, and support services provided by Eric Holt, Mountlet's publisher. Read them before purchasing or using the services. Purchase-specific terms shown at checkout and applicable software licenses also apply. For questions, use the support form.

What Mountlet provides

Mountlet manages cloud-storage connections through rclone on your device. It can browse, mount, search, cache, transfer, and synchronize files with supported providers. Mountlet does not supply cloud-storage accounts or storage capacity. Features depend on your operating system, rclone version, provider permissions, and provider API availability.

Permission to use the software

You may install and use a distributed copy under the purchase, trial, or beta terms supplied with it, within your licensed device limit. A purchased license authorizes use of that copy; it does not transfer ownership of the software or authorize redistribution. Keep your license key safe and do not share it to evade device limits. Contact support if you need help moving a license between devices.

Mountlet's source code is governed by its separate source-available license: non-commercial viewing, modification, building, and use are permitted; commercial use or redistribution requires separate permission. Third-party components, including rclone, retain their own licenses. These terms do not restrict rights granted by those licenses or by mandatory law.

Trial and beta access

Paid builds currently offer a seven-day trial. After the trial, continued licensed use requires activation. Public beta access is temporary, requires periodic online renewal, and may end when the beta closes. Beta software may change or contain defects; keep independent backups of important files.

Purchases, subscriptions, and device slots

The price, currency, taxes, billing period, and device allowance shown at checkout govern your purchase. Stripe processes payments. Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Additional device slots are charged according to the offer shown when you add them. Subscription access works offline through the current paid period and requires online validation to obtain renewed access.

A lifetime license is a one-time purchase for continued use of the licensed application without recurring license fees. Once activated, it can continue working offline. It does not promise perpetual operation of third-party APIs, online services, or support, or guarantee that every future separately sold product is included.

Subscription price changes apply to future renewals with advance notice, giving you an opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect. They do not create recurring charges for a lifetime license.

Cancellation, refunds, and consumer rights

To cancel renewal, use any subscription-management link provided with your purchase, or send a billing request through the support form before renewal. Identify your purchase using its receipt or transaction reference; never include full card details. Cancellation stops future renewals and ordinarily leaves access available through the paid period. Cancellation alone does not refund an earlier payment.

For refunds, incorrect charges, or software that does not conform to what was promised, contact support with the purchase reference and a description of the problem. Your applicable statutory rights to withdrawal, repair, replacement, price reduction, or reimbursement remain available. Where a 14-day withdrawal right applies, downloading or activating Mountlet does not by itself waive it; any valid exception requires the consent and acknowledgment required by law.

Your accounts and files

Connect only accounts and data you are authorized to access. You are responsible for choosing appropriate destinations, permissions, sync settings, and credentials, and for complying with each provider's terms. File operations can overwrite or delete data, and synchronized changes may propagate to other devices. Review operations carefully and keep backups separate from synchronized folders. Offline caches are not a substitute for a backup.

Providers may change permissions, quotas, pricing, or APIs, or restrict an account or application. Mountlet cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to any provider, freedom from throttling, or recovery of deleted files. An embedded OAuth client simplifies sign-in but does not override provider restrictions.

Acceptable use

Do not use Mountlet or its online services to access accounts without permission, infringe others' rights, distribute unlawful content, attack infrastructure, bypass licensing, or interfere with other users. Do not send malicious requests or expose credentials through support reports. We may restrict online access or a license in response to material abuse, fraud, or a legal requirement. Where practical, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to resolve the issue. This does not remove mandatory consumer rights.

Support and submitted content

Support is independently maintained, and response times vary. No specific response time or service-level guarantee is included unless separately agreed. You retain ownership of material you submit, while permitting us and our service providers to process it as needed to handle your request and maintain Mountlet.

Support and diagnostic reports may be forwarded to GitHub issues and email delivery services. Issues may be public, including any contact details and logs you submit. Review reports before sending and request a private channel before sharing confidential information. Our privacy policy explains how information is handled.

Availability, warranties, and liability

We aim to provide functioning software and services, but cannot promise that they will be error-free or continuously available. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Mountlet is provided without additional warranties beyond those expressly offered and without liability for indirect or consequential losses arising from its use.

These limitations do not exclude mandatory guarantees or remedies, liability for fraud or intentional misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your statutory consumer rights take precedence over any conflicting wording in these terms or the installer license.

Changes and disputes

We may update these terms as the service evolves and will change the date on this page. Material changes will be communicated through the website, application, or purchase communications as appropriate. Changes do not retrospectively remove purchased rights or mandatory consumer protections. Contact support first if a dispute arises; these terms do not prevent you from using competent courts or consumer-protection bodies available under applicable law.
